Preview Highlights – What We Need To Know

Introduction to the Galaxy S23

The Samsung Galaxy S23 will likely launch in the first half of 2023, assuming it develops similarly to the S22. due to leaks from manufacturing partners and analysts about the upcoming release.

The Galaxy S23, which is expected to omit the Exynos processor, is expected to put an end to the division between US and EU models. For those who are unaware, Galaxy flagships normally come with a Samsung-made Exynos chipset for worldwide markets and a Snapdragon processor for the US and South Korea.

The S23 and S23+ will adopt the design aesthetic of the Ultra edition, giving the entire series a more unified appearance. That is, the protruding rings, similar to the Galaxy S22 Ultra, instead of a metal slab surrounding the camera lenses.

Therefore, there has been an increase in performance, a claimed minor camera enhancement, and a new design. Anything more? Let’s examine what the Galaxy S23 is… predicted to be in more detail:

Galaxy S23 release date

The S22 series, which made its premiere on February 9, 2022, and went on sale later that month, is the latest generation of Samsung’s Galaxy S smartphones, which have been introduced toward the beginning of the year. Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed any information on the S23 series, including timeframe. But based on recent rumors and our suspicions, we believe it will launch at the same time.

It is evident from the dates of the previous five Galaxy flagship releases that February 2023 was always a possibility:

  • Galaxy S22 release date: February 9, 2022
  • Galaxy S21 release date: January 14, 2021
  • Galaxy S20 release date: February 11, 2020
  • Galaxy S10 release date: February 20, 2019
  • Galaxy S9 release date: February 25, 2018

Galaxy S23 models

We can be sure that Samsung will continue to offer a number of phone models, each with unique features and pricing points to appeal to a broad range of consumers. Based on Samsung’s past performance, we’re convinced that the Galaxy S23 lineup will include an entry-level S23, a step-up S23 Plus with a bigger screen, and a premium S23 Ultra. The Ultra will have the most advanced technology, including additional cameras, the largest display, and probably the S Pen stylus.

Galaxy S23 price

If Samsung releases numerous models, there will be three different pricing points for the S23 line. We anticipate Samsung to maintain its pricing from the previous year. For comparison’s sake, the entry-level S22 started at $800, the Plus model at $1,000, and the high-performance S22 Ultra at $1,200 in the US in February.

Display

Samsung is the best at AMOLED. The business has been perfecting displays for the past ten years that are brilliant, vibrant, sharp, and gorgeous. The Galaxy S23 will unquestionably have the same excellent screen that can be adjusted to have either rich and aggressive colors or tame realistic ones.

Galaxy S23 colors

The Galaxy S23 series’ colors are rumored to be Phantom Black, Green, Lavender, and Cream. Additionally, he asserts that “there is no pink, gold, burgundy, or white color.”

Beige, black, green, and light pink, according to an earlier rumor, will be offered on all three S23 family devices. A recent S Pen color leak claims that these will be the color options for the S23 Ultra, even if we haven’t confirmed these colors for the S23 and the 23 Plus.

The so-called “signature colors” that Samsung will use to sell the Galaxy S23 phones have recently been revealed through leaks. According to rumors, these will be green for the S23 Ultra, pink for the S23 Plus, and gold for the S23.

Cameras

One of the main areas of concentration for the new series appears to be the cameras. That’s probably especially true for the Ultra model, which often houses Samsung’s most significant camera advances.Considering that Samsung has already released two of these image sensors and that they are available in other phones, we anticipated the S22 Ultra to come equipped with a massive 200-megapixel image sensor. Although we didn’t see it on the S22 Ultra, it appears likely that the S23 Ultra will include a 200-megapixel sensor as one of its main selling points. The 200-megapixel sensor for the Galaxy S23 Ultra is another prediction made by Ice Universe. It is unclear whether the sensor will be an existing HP1 or HP3 model from the company, or a new model created especially for the phone.

Greater low-light photography is claimed on Samsung’s sales pages for these sensors, which combine groups of tiny pixels into larger individual ones that can collect more light. This clearly results in improved resolution. A further boost to the S22 Ultra’s low-light capabilities is fantastic news because it already ranks among the top nighttime camera phones, besting the Pixel 7 Pro in our recent tests.

The phone’s zoom abilities, which are already excellent due to its 10x optical zoom lens, will benefit from its enormous resolution. The lens lineup will reportedly remain the same across all phones, according to recent speculations from Ice Universe, although the added resolution should make zoom images even more precise.

Battery

The absence of advancements in battery life and power management is one of the more disappointing aspects of Galaxy S23 rumors. According to reports, the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus’s battery size may be increased by a few hundred milliampere hours (mAh). The 5,000mAh battery of the Galaxy S23 Ultra is reportedly the same as it was in 2017.

It’s really difficult to be excited about the possibility of an increased battery capacity for the Galaxy S23 (3,900mAh vs. 3,700mAh) and the Galaxy S23 Plus (4,700mAh vs. 4,500mAh). We had hoped for considerably more significant battery advancements.

With the upcoming Samsung devices, charging speeds are also anticipated to lag behind the competition. Like the Galaxy S22, the Galaxy S23 is said to charge at a 25W rate. The Galaxy S23 Plus and Galaxy S23 Ultra can charge at a maximum of 45W, which will take about 30 minutes to charge half of the battery. However, rivals are charging at 65W and even higher, often exceeding 120W. Samsung is capable of more.

Galaxy S23 storage

Samsung can afford to be generous with the gigabytes in its phones because it produces its own internal flash storage chips and RAM memory. Samsung might finally break the trend of 128GB beginning storage with the Galaxy S23, at least for the Ultra model.

Specs and Performance

The Galaxy S23 will be powered by Qualcomm’s most recent silicon if Samsung continues to operate in the same manner as in the past. The chip manufacturer revealed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in November, and that would be that. You can anticipate a more sophisticated AI engine and an image signal processor that adds a variety of exciting camera features, in addition to performance and power improvements over last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

Exynos CPUs have been deployed in markets outside of the US with previous Galaxy S phones. However, Qualcomm has made it clear that it would only offer Snapdragon chips to the Galaxy S23 series. Even said, there are still rumors that Samsung is developing a new Exynos chip.

One theory, however, suggests that the Galaxy S23 would have a customized Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which supports the idea of a single chip for all areas and predicts improved performance for Samsung’s smartphones.

The entire Galaxy S23 range may also receive an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU, according to some early Geekbench 5 benchmarks, which may transform them into formidable Android powerhouses by 2023.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset from Qualcomm performs admirably in the benchmarks that we had the opportunity to run. It performed better than the A15 Bionic chip that powers the iPhone 14 in numerous tests. Even if the A16 Bionic in the iPhone 14 Pro versions still outperforms the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in a number of tests, this is a really significant development. Our main observation is that the Galaxy S23 stands to benefit from the decreasing gap between the Snapdragon and Apple chips.

According to reports, Samsung will only offer 8GB of RAM in the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus, just like it did with the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus, if we look beyond the chipset. Even if competitors started showing up with higher RAM by default, that didn’t stop us from preferring the Galaxy S22 series.

The good news is that all three Galaxy S23 versions are anticipated to have 256GB of storage. This would be an enormous improvement over the Galaxy S22. According to the same leak, the S23 and S23+ will have 8GB of RAM, but the S23 Ultra would have 12GB.

All that performance generates heat, which the Galaxy S23 must expel using internal cooling systems. One source claims that, in contrast to the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the Galaxy S23 Ultra will have a full-fat vapor chamber cooling system, while the Galaxy S23 Plus will have a subpar heatpipe cooling system. The Galaxy S22, on the other hand, won’t contain anything other than the standard thermal paste and graphite tape seen in all high-end smartphones.
