Global Tablet Sales Increase by 11% in Q3 2024: Apple Leads the Market
As we approach the end of 2024, tablets have seen an impressive resurgence in popularity. According to the latest data from Canalys, global tablet shipments reached an impressive 37.4 million units in the third quarter of 2024. This marks the third consecutive quarter of growth, with an 11% increase compared to the same period last year, following an 18% spike in the previous quarter.
This surge in tablet sales is attributed to several factors that align perfectly during Q3. The period notably aligns with back-to-school preparations, prompting significant retail stock-ups in anticipation of holiday shopping and early discounts benefiting early buyers.
Examining the breakdown of the 37.4 million units shipped, Apple emerges as a clear leader, dispatching 13.5 million units and capturing 36% of the market. Notably, this includes shipments of the newly revamped iPad mini enhanced with Apple Intelligence features.
Following Apple, Samsung also shows strong performance, shipping nearly 7 million units, which accounts for 18% of the market share. Lenovo, Huawei, and Xiaomi closely follow, contributing significantly to the market dynamics.
