Apple Invests $10 Million in New Indonesian Factory to Resolve iPhone 16 Series Ban
Last week, Apple faced significant challenges in Indonesia, leading to a ban on their iPhone 16 series and Apple Watch Series 10 due to unfulfilled local investment commitments. Specifically, the regulation requires companies to ensure that 40% of their products’ content is sourced locally.
Responding swiftly, Bloomberg News has revealed that Apple plans to open a $10 million factory in Bandung, Indonesia. This venture, in collaboration with Yageo Corporation, aims to produce various accessories and components for Apple products.
Apple has officially submitted its investment proposal to the Indonesian Ministry of Industry, hoping to lift the recent restrictions on their products. Notably, Google has encountered similar issues, with their Pixel 9 series also facing bans over non-compliance with Indonesia’s local content requirements.
